Information for Teachers

Back To Summer Science Immersion Page

Do you have a student who is always looking for more work? One who always wants deeper explanations to experiments? One who would benefit from a chance to work alongside professional scientists in a research laboratory? Then you’ve come to the right place.

The DRSA is always looking for students who have a strong desire to learn, exceptional work ethic, and a dedication to science and research. We provide an unmatched scientific extracurricular opportunity for highly motivated youth. Students in our program are typically grade 10-12 students but must have completed at least their grade 10 science course in order to apply.

The program offers students a chance to test-drive a career in science all the while having a chance to associate with like-minded youth from across the country and work alongside highly respected professionals. As an added benefit, we are a registered Private school with the Ministry of Ontario which allows us to offer students 2 co-operative education credits upon successful completion of the program – credits which are transferable across the country.

Our program takes place each summer in Deep River, Ontario from the beginning of July until mid-August. Tuition and application information can be found on the student page.

We value the role teachers play in recommending students to our program. We are happy to send you information to pass on to your students. To request information on our program, simply send an email to [email protected] with your contact information as well as your school’s address and how many brochures and school posters you would like to receive.

Why Science Teachers Recommend Students to the DRSA

It’s Real Science…

It’s an excellent opportunity for students to  put their high school science to work on projects not available in the classroom , earn 2 co-op credits, work on a  University-level lab report and fine-tune their presentation skills!

It’s Real Research…

It’s  hands-on research experience, allowing students to work on cutting-edge projects that are part of a professional scientist’s ongoing research.

 It’s Real Summer…

It’s a unique experience where students will be able to meet kids from across Canada who like the same sort of things they do…where canoeing and swimming are at their doorstep…where they live at a beautiful summer lodge with great hospitality and where they make friendships for life!

Looking for extra in-class enrichment?

The DRSA now offers an in class program called “Inreach.” This program allows us to bring real research into your classroom via internet conferencing. Check out our Inreach page for more information.
